This week a mysterious package from our friend Logan Bay who lives in Bangkok arrived. Logan does a lot of great stuff so I knew it was going to be something good. I was super excited to find 10 copies of SUBP•A•ROTH, a overszied, two-color offset printed magazine created by Logan and Vigunya Voratanitkitkul in 2011 to promote and expand the contemporary arts scene in Southeast Asia.

The cover of issue #2 is designed by Bangkok native Teerayut Thun Puchpen (TRK) who is known for his gory and mildly perverted black and white illustrations. Additional artwork by in this issue by Korakrit (Krit) Arunanondchai, Terawat (P’O) Teankaprasit, Sheryo, Samapeap(Peap) Tarr, Tripuck (PUCK) Supawattana, Shahril Nizam.

So Happy Halloween Milwaukee, it's first come first serve on these FREE 9 copies left (we of course snagged one for our collection) that are normally only distributed in New York, Miami, Chicago, Paris, Singapore, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Siem Reap.

Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Handsome Furs is comprised of husband/wife duo Dan Boeckner from Wolf Parade and his wife Alexei Perry. They signed on to the legendary indie label Sub Pop Records in late 2006 and released their first full-length album Plague Park in 2007. Their follow up album Face Control has received rave reviews including an 8/10 from influential Pitchfork Media.
Handsome Fur’s music is a blend of Electro beats and synths combined with enormous punk and post-punk guitar sounds. There isn't a couple in indie rock that exudes more sexual energy than Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry with their smoking, skin-baring performances firing up venues around the world.

Asahi and Homebass Communications are proud to announce that the second stop for the DUBWAY exhibition will be held at the prestigious Vic Hua Hin on July 31. For the second show the DUBWAY crew will be setting up camp in Hua Hin for a day of exciting workshops taught by DJ Seed, Space 360, Pakorn, T.Puchpen, Dragon and Gap from legendary Thai reggae band T-BONE. Topics range from Dub music history, Graffiti, Graphic design, electronic music production and beat mixing. This event aims to showcase the exciting new artworks from T,Puchpen and Pakorn and also educate the masses about the DUBWAY vibe.

Here’s the schedule;

Date: Saturday 31st July, 2010

TIIME: Workshop start from 10:30 am to 6 pm.

Venue: VIC HUA HIN and CHUBCHEEVA

after party starts at 9pm

After the workshops are finished get ready for a Live Electronic music performed by Space 360 and Live DJ Shows by DJ Seed and DJ Dragon. Free katsu curry will be prepared for guests by our very own chef Hiroshi from Japan and Free Ice Coffe supplied by COFFEE WORKS. If you missed your chance to get DUBWAY t-shirts at our last show don’t worry because they will be on-sale at this event. There will also be an after party at CHUBCHEEVA Hua Hin with DJ’s Daddy P-Lo, Jo stitch, Orawan and Dragon. The workshops and afterparty are free and everyone is invited join but space is limited so please get there early.

This show will include T.Puchpen’s work for Dubway and will also include personal works from the artist’s studio.

The show will open 6pm on June 12 at Art Gorilla’s gallery in Siam Square. There will be live Painting by T.Puchpen and Homebass Graffiti artist Pakorn, video installations by Makok and sounds provided by Daddy P-lo, Space 360 and DJ Hiroo (Ghost town dub). The exhibition will also be held at the prestigious VIC Hua Hin on July 31. Watch this space for more updates.

After the exhibition there will be a after party at Café Democ with DJ’s Jo Stitch, Dragon and DJ Tooru from Japan.
